Architects & Contractors

In the last 25 years, architects, contractors and homeowners have built larger areas of glass into Western Washington homes. With the abundance of overcast days we experience the additional light is welcomed until we get a clear sunny day or high winds.

Even with the advanced technologies available in all windows today the sun will cause heat gain, fading and glare problems. The greater amount of glass, the greater amount of problems.

Since 1990, SunBlockers Northwest has been installing Rollshutters, See-thru Sunscreens and Roll-out Awnings over large areas of glass on homes and businesses throughout Western Washington. Amazingly, about 40% of people who inquire about our sun blocking products already have air conditioning in their homes. They've grown tired of the air running constantly on sunny days and still experiencing fading problems. Our products simply block the sun from touching the glazing, which greatly reduces the heat gain into the home or office.
If you are one of the many architects or contractors who have referred your clients to us in the past we thank you. If not, please contact Craig or Rich and we'll gladly discuss the benefits of our product for a specific project or general future use. While our product is not listed in "SWEETS" we will gladly send you a complete architectural binder detailing every aspect of our products.

Here are common scenarios that we encounter every week in which your knowledge of our products and how they work would help your clients and save them money.

THE PROBLEM:
A tall grouping of windows facing south or west in the home's living, dining, or great room. The homeowner can stop the glare and fading problems with interior window treatments, but can't stop the heat transfer. Because it is a featured viewpoint in the house, they don't want to lose that view while correcting the fading and glare. Or they just don't want to clutter the interior beauty with blinds and cords.

THE SOLUTION:
Our See-Thru Sunscreens installed on the outside where they won't be seen when not used and still allows for the homeowners' view when needed.

Where does your help come in?
When you design this grouping of windows contact us for our electrical schematics and have the contractor's electrician wire for the possibility of the homeowners future need. This would save a major expense and/or eliminate the need for unsightly conduit should they want that option in the future.

You could also design flat trim boards around these windows on the outside rather than having the stucco or siding butt right up to the windows. This gives us a great place to mount our side support rails and makes our retrofit product look like it was designed by you for the home. Our product is available in four standard colors or we can custom match any color the homeowner has on their trim boards.

THE PROBLEMS:
1) Someone in the household takes a new job, getting the night shift and finds it impossible to get restful sleep during the daylight hours.

2) The dark-out blind in the windows of your new home theater room don't block all of the outside light

3) The homeowners wish they had an additional physical security for the doors and windows at the back of their house at night and when away on weekends.

THE SOLUTION:
Our Rollshutters installed on the ouside of the windows, operated either manually or by motor from the inside of the home. Used throughout Europe for over 70 years for security, sun-control, money-saving insulation and high-wind protection, Rollshutters can give you a good night's sleep... even in the middle of the day.

Why should you consider this? Because for 18 years, we have been making our living solving the problems described above for homeowners throughout western Washington. And while they may never call you to say thanks, they will be happy that their problem can be solved for less money while maintaining the architectural integrity of their home.
